Question I started with

Rather than memorize the whole transceiver, I isolated the inputs, outputs, and role of Mixers and IF Selection.

Mixers and IF Selection — concept flow
I redrew the relationships before returning to the equations.

Connecting the concepts

The key is nonlinear multiplication creates sum/difference products selected by filtering. Frequency, impedance, gain/loss, noise, and linearity at both sides are recorded before connecting the block.

  • Mixers
  • RF block
  • S-parameter
  • signal chain

Equations and assumptions

I write the reference impedance, units, and linear-versus-decibel domain before substituting numbers.

f_IF = abs(f_RF - f_LO)P_IF = P_RF - conversion_loss

Worked example

A 2.45 GHz RF and 2.40 GHz LO produce a 50 MHz difference IF.

Mixers and IF Selection — calculation relationship
This is my explanatory redraw, not an imported RFDH figure or a measurement result.

Connecting it to my coursework and projects

I connect this block to my passive-network coursework and FMCW transceiver flow. The example is a recomputed study value, not a hardware measurement.

What I will check next

I do not mix typical, guaranteed, and simulated conditions or directly compare values taken at different frequency, bias, temperature, power, or terminations.
