Diode Rectifiers

What I connect in this unit

A single-phase bridge conducts through two diodes each half-cycle, while a three-phase bridge successively connects the highest and lowest phases to the DC terminals. Source inductance prevents instantaneous current transfer, creating commutation overlap that changes both average DC voltage and ripple.

Technical anchor

For ideal full-wave rectification without a smoothing capacitor, V_dc = 2 V_m/pi; an ideal three-phase six-pulse bridge gives approximately V_dc = 1.35 V_LL.

How I review it

Draw the conducting path for each 60-degree or 180-degree interval, then inspect how source-inductance drop and capacitor charging pulses reshape the input-current waveform.
