Comparing PI Calculations and Simulation
I use my PSIM report and PI calculation file to revisit the DC-motor model, cascaded current-speed loops, and field weakening.

What I connect in this unit
Before entering calculated PI gains into a simulation, continuous-discrete form and units must agree. Overshoot and settling time can then be compared, but intervals under voltage or current limits must be separated from the linear design response.

For a second-order approximation, M_p = exp(-pi zeta/sqrt(1-zeta^2)) and two-percent settling time is about 4/(zeta omega_n); these linear relations do not hold while a limiter is active.
How I review it
Place calculated gain, entered gain, sample time, and limit conditions in one table, then compare overshoot and settling time for reference and load steps using identical definitions and time windows.
