Week 07

S-Parameter Analysis

I revisit transmission lines through Wilkinson and branch-line networks using my assignments, Cadence circuits, and S-parameter figures.

What I connect in this unit

S-parameters relate incident and outgoing power waves at ports referenced to a chosen impedance. S11 describes input reflection and return loss, while S21 describes forward transmission and insertion loss; decibels compact their magnitude ratios.

Technical anchor

For magnitude plots use Sij,dB=20log10|Sij|. If a passive two-port appears to have |S21| greater than one, first inspect reference impedance, normalization, and whether any active element is present.

How I review it

Map plot legends directly to schematic port numbers, then read the S11 minimum and S21 level at the same marker frequency rather than mixing frequencies.

Connection to the full course

Unit 7 of 12. Unit numbers arrange the saved assignments and circuits by concept flow rather than attendance weeks.
