Week 06

Op-Amp Nonidealities

I study differential stages, feedback, filters, and output stages as one connected signal path.

Electronic Circuits II course visual
Course visual for this study sequence.

What I connect in this unit

Input offset creates DC output error even with equal inputs, slew rate limits the slope of large signals, gain-bandwidth product limits small-signal bandwidth, and output saturation clips demands near the supply rails.

Concept map

  1. Input offset
  2. Slew rate
  3. Gain-bandwidth product
  4. Output saturation

Technical anchor

For Vp sin(2πft) to avoid slew-rate distortion, SR ≥ 2πfVp, while closed-loop bandwidth is approximately GBW/|Af|.

How I review it

From required gain, frequency, and output peak, check GBW and slew-rate limits separately, then verify that offset times noise gain fits within output headroom.

Connection to the full course

Unit 6 of 12. Unit numbers follow concept dependencies rather than the historical lecture calendar.
