Voltage Regulation and Efficiency
I revisit magnetic circuits, transformers, and rotating machines around my transformer report and calculation sheets.

What I connect in this unit
Copper loss varies with load current squared, while core loss is approximately fixed at constant voltage and frequency. Together they set efficiency, and load power factor changes the phase of series-impedance voltage drop, affecting both magnitude and sign of voltage regulation.

Use eta = P_out/(P_out + P_core + P_cu) and voltage regulation = (V_noload - V_load)/V_load. At constant voltage, maximum efficiency occurs when variable copper loss equals fixed core loss.
How I review it
Plot regulation for lagging and leading power factor, then check whether the crossing of load-dependent P_cu and fixed P_core agrees with the maximum-efficiency condition.
