Week 04
Transformer Equivalent Circuits
I revisit magnetic circuits, transformers, and rotating machines around my transformer report and calculation sheets.

What I connect in this unit
Winding resistance represents copper loss, and leakage reactance represents voltage drop from uncoupled flux. In the magnetizing branch, R_c models core loss and X_m models magnetizing current; the referred circuit moves every impedance to one winding base before applying KVL.

Technical anchor
When secondary series impedance is referred to the primary, R_2_prime = a^2 R_2 and X_2_prime = a^2 X_2; the approximate model places the shunt branch across the input.
How I review it
Label the chosen referral side, then check units of every resistance and reactance and confirm that summed voltage drops satisfy the terminal-voltage equation.
