Transformer Principles

What I connect in this unit

By Faraday law, alternating primary flux induces voltage in both windings, and turns ratio sets voltage and current ratios. Referring a load impedance to the other side multiplies it by the square of turns ratio, while dot polarity marks corresponding instantaneous voltage polarity.

How I review it

Mark dot orientation and reference currents first, then verify that voltage ratio, current ratio, and referred impedance remain consistent with power conservation.
