What I connect in this unit

A block code adds parity to data bits, increasing distance between valid codewords and providing coding gain. In an AWGN link, encoder, modulator, noise, and decoder must share a consistent Eb/N0 definition before coded and uncoded BER curves are compared.

Technical anchor

An (n,k) block code has rate R = k/n, and symbol-energy scaling at a given Eb/N0 must account for the extra transmitted parity bits.

How I review it

Use the all-zero codeword to check encoder and syndrome decoder logic, then align BER axes and Eb/N0 definitions for uncoded and hard-decision coded links.
