Week 07

State Observers

I use the saved simulation video as a starting point to revisit state-space control, observers, and digital control.

What I connect in this unit

A Luenberger observer combines the model input with output innovation to estimate unmeasured states. Estimation error follows A-LC, and the separation principle allows observer and controller poles to be selected independently.

Technical anchor

With xhat'=Axhat+Bu+L(y-Cxhat) and e=x-xhat, the error obeys e'=(A-LC)e. After selecting error poles, mark the innovation path in the combined observer-feedback block diagram.

How I review it

Overlay true and estimated states from a nonzero initial estimation error, and inspect how overly fast observer poles can amplify measurement noise through L.

Connection to the full course

Unit 7 of 12. This study sequence connects the system flow visible in the video with standard control topics; it is not a claim about lecture weeks.
