Week 12
Protection and Design Checks
I organize a study path from switching devices to converters and inverters while tracking power flow and device stress together.
What I connect in this unit
Overcurrent protection must detect a fault and remove gate drive before the semiconductor limit is exceeded. A snubber constrains turn-off dv/dt and leakage-inductance spikes, gate isolation separates control reference from the power stage, and final thermal margin must cover both normal loss and repeated fault stress.

Technical anchor
A first thermal check is T_j,max > T_a,max + P_loss R_theta,total, while the RC-snubber time constant tau = RC is selected with respect to the ringing period being damped.
How I review it
Review overcurrent threshold, blanking, and shutdown order together with isolation voltage, creepage, snubber pulse ratings, and junction temperature under cooling failure in one fault matrix.
